Board Game Review: Lords of Waterdeep (+expansion)

Image
Don't mind the sushi go party game at the top, it's a review for another day This game really has a special place in my heart, it's the game that I bought first and introduced to my friends. They all like it because it's just right. Has some complexity and strategy while still being fun. TL;DR rules/gameplay (base game) Entry level/gateway worker placement game. Euro with enough player interaction that it's not too stabby. Perfect balance, to be honest. You are a secret lord (you're given a unique lord card), go do the best things for waterdeep and win when you get the most victory points. Assign agents to the board and get the benefit/resources that comes with it. Ways to get points: (Major) finish quest fulfilling the quest requirements (spending your resources) Bits and pieces from Intrigue cards and buildings. End game Lord character, workers and money bonuses. Two types of quest, and factions of quest: Normal quest: get the card, pay

Board games and why searching for a gaming group sucks so bad most of the time

Board game has been quite a hobby for me past few months, probably due to game nights I attended. It was getting pretty stale, and the games the other people brought are just fucking bad (more on this later). Why Board Games? I am by no means a board game master (I only have four of them), but I do enjoy them because of the fun, slightly competitive environment and social factor. I've gone to three different places for board game nights. I've met up with an old friend over board games and started talking with her again. I've played in my own share house, and played with two groups that originated from badminton group. It is probably the only type of gaming with the most social interaction, the main reason why I like board games. Sports is another one, but you have zero chance to get injured badly. Less of dexterity/strength and more of mind/strategy action. Also, the pieces are real, the game plays right in front of you. This would sound like a snobby thing to s

Board Game Review: King of Tokyo and Shadow Hunters

Introduction? One of my biggest hobbies are gaming (next to fapping probably heh), and I research games like no tomorrow. In fact it's just to the point where I can't decide whether I should buy the games because I read too much negative reviews and just be confused with it. In fact, this review might as well become one of them to you, I might be biased, my opinion is not absolute. However, I am very critical of games and I'm sure some of my reviews are insightful. I bought a few games that I have played in a board game cafe (BEST way to know what game you like, can't go wrong with this). Namely King of Tokyo (KoT) and Lords of Waterdeep (LoW). They both are awesome in their own way and of course has some faults. Wait then why are you reviewing Shadow Hunters instead? I am reviewing LoW for another day since I haven't got the chance to play it yet because of some other game I particularly dislike, Shadow Hunters (SH). We have this gathering for
